Devour! Goes International

HALIFAX, NS (January 22, 2014) – Nova Scotia based producers of Devour! The Food Film Fest are taking the show on the road. Executive Director Michael Howell and Managing Director Lia Rinaldo have inked a deal that will see the food and wine festival expand into The Bahamas.

“The culinary traveller has increasingly been identified as a key contributor to building and sustaining global tourism,” says Howell. “The expansion of Devour! into The Bahamas has the advantage of promoting tourism and economic partnerships between our two regions.”

The duo will produce Devour! The Beach, in Green Turtle Cay, Abacos from March 26-29, 2014. The three–day event features extraordinary culinary events led by celebrity chefs from Chicago, Las Vegas, Cleveland, Dallas, Ottawa and Halifax’s own Craig Flinn, chef, author and owner of Chives and Two Doors Down.

“The combination of food and film is a powerful recipe,” says Rinaldo. “Transported by taste, the culinary traveller is willing to both travel great distances for the luxury to eat food prepared by well-known personalities. Based on the success of Devour! in Wolfville, we are thrilled to take this brand to The Bahamas.”

The third edition of the Wolfville event wrapped after engaging films from the global community, celebrity chefs, Hollywood actors and directors across multiple food and wine events over a five-day period. International media such as the Hollywood Reporter, Reader’s Digest, and Saveur Magazine, not only noticed but also gave the festival a nod. Attendance doubled to 4,000 people and box office sales tripled over the previous edition.
