Wolfville N.S. (November 10, 2014) – Public and private sector partners have lined up to support the fourth edition of Devour! The Food Film Fest. Combining cinematic talent with extraordinary culinary creations, Wolfville plays host to the world’s largest festival focused on food and film from November 12-16.
“We are honoured to have so many organizations supporting the festival and what it represents for our province,” says Michael Howell, executive director of Devour! “Between the 2013 and 2014 festival, the number of partners and supporters has doubled. Because of this, Devour! is projected to be hosting over 8,000 people this year alone.”
Devour! is thrilled to be teaming up with the festival’s first national media partner, Gusto TV. Best known as Canada’s new food and lifestyle specialty channel, Gusto TV features many award winning television series including Cook Like a Chef, Licence to Grill, Edible Roadshow and This Food That Wine. The station is also known for its active online presence, through their website and social media. Canadian cable television and telecommunications company, Eastlink, has also joined the Devour! team as a platinum partner. Founded and developed in Nova Scotia, the popular communications company is the largest privately owned cable company in Canada. Led by the Bragg family of Oxford, Nova Scotia, Eastlink fits perfectly with the festival’s local, Nova Scotian theme. The organizers of Devour! The Food Film Fest look forward to the many media opportunities to come through these special partnerships.
Returning for the second year in a row are festival platinum partners, Nova Scotia Tourism Agency and Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, along with gold partners, Acadia University, Spectacle Group and Taste of Nova Scotia. The enthusiastic level of commitment from these key partners, coupled with the support from the town of Wolfville and Kings County, has played an integral role in securing the festival program and developing the event as a whole.
This year’s festival also marked the beginning of a major radio partnership with Radio 96.5. Through their keen use of social media, their witty radio-jingles and their on-going contest Where in the world is Anthony Bourdain?, Devour! received positive attention, and saw a major rise in ticket sales.
“Provincial and regional support has been essential in the festival’s growth process,” says Lia Rinaldo, managing director of Devour! “We are thrilled with how hands-on each partner has been. It’s made the development process leading up to the festival that much more enjoyable.”
