Mi’kmaq Mawi’omi – Devour! Opening Ceremonies – IN PERSON

Wednesday, October 20, 2021
12:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Devour! Studios
360 Main Street, Wolfville, NS, B4P1C4

In celebration of this year’s theme of Global Indigenous Cinema & Cuisine, there is no better way to open the festival than with a Gathering, a Powwow, or in the Mi’kmaw language, a Mawi’omi. This gathering will demonstrate the beauty, strength, spirit, and resilience of the Mi’kmaq culture and traditions through traditional dancing and drumming along with a host of food and craft vendors. The Mawi’omi offers an opportunity to immerse yourself in vibrant Mi’kmaq culture, and share and create strong bonds within the community. This event is organized by Garrett Gloade from Millbrook First Nation.

Ticket Price: Free public event; food and crafts for purchase. No ticket required.

Sponsored by: MNP, Support 4 Culture,  & ILL-EAGLE Creations & Cultural Consultation
