Atlantic chefs highlighted among featured chefs at Devour! at the Algonquin Resort

Halifax (April 9, 2019) – Devour! has put together a juicy line up of chefs for the third annual Devour! at the Algonquin, April 12-14 in St. Andrews. Teaming up for the popular event are Newfoundland’s chef Todd Perrin, Mallard Cottage; up-and-coming Moncton chef Camille Pluymackers, Manuka; seasoned New Brunswick chef Jeff MacLean, the Algonquin; two-time James Beard award recipient Melissa Kelly, Maine’s Primo; and Devour’s very own Michael Howell.

“Our satellite event at the iconic Algonquin resort promotes the food and talent our Atlantic region has to offer,” says Howell, Devour! executive director. “I’m looking forward to providing dishes inspired by the weekend’s short films and collaborating with guests during the festivities.”

Devour’s third time in New Brunswick offers guests the opportunity to interact with the weekend’s featured chefs.

“Devour! at the Algonquin Resort is an intimate and engaging way to feature local chefs as part of a team of Atlantic Canadian and American chefs,” says Lia Rinaldo, Devour! managing director. “The weekend will provide exclusive sessions and demos from renowned chefs and will be packed with food and drink, film, and local history.”

The weekend includes a five-course food and film dinner, a chowder smackdown, whiskey tasting and will open with a Meet the Spirits ghost tour sponsored by Mer et Soleil Agency highlighting the long-standing rumours that the Algonquin is haunted. That shouldn’t scare away the featured chefs at each tour stop – but cocktails will be provided to calm the nerves.

“Devour! at the Algonquin combines film and food in an engaging weekend getaway experience to highlight renowned chefs while celebrating our amazing region,” says Denise Bradbury, director of sales and marketing Algonquin Resort. “We’re excited to partner with Devour! for the third year in a row to provide the offerings of their acclaimed festival on a smaller scale and more intimate setting.”

Tickets include full weekend packages, individual weekend tickets and Saturday’s five-course food and film dinner. Individual tickets are also being sold for the chowder smackdown where guests can vote for their favourite chowder with proceeds going to the St. Andrews & Area Open Door Program.
