Seeking Nova Scotia Chefs for Devour! Opening Gala Reception on November 12

Devour! The Food Film Fest is now one of the largest food film festivals in the world–with the fourth edition slated for November 12-16, 2014. The festival is a celebration of food on film, the culture of food and the dramatic impact it has on our day-to-day lives. In addition to screenings of upwards of 50 new food films from around the world, the festival lets the audience indulge in restaurant pop-ups, wine experiences, food truck rallies, awesome foodie seminars, industry insider sessions and gala dinners featuring renowned international and local chefs. Last year, 4,000 people attended our event and it received an unprecedented amount of press – including The Hollywood Reporter coining Wolfville Canada’s Secret Foodie Destination.

On Wednesday, November 12, Devour! returns with its signature opening event, the Devour! Opening Night Gala Reception at Acadia University’s Fountain Commons. Twelve of Nova Scotia’s best chefs and special guests will come together to create a feast for the senses that celebrates local cuisine and international cinema for 350 people. This signature Nova Scotia reception will also feature an Order of Good Cheer celebration inducting all visiting chefs, film makers, guests and a major headlining celebrity who will open the festival.

From the very start, we have been proud to feature the best chefs and cuisine from the region at our event. As Devour! grows, we are endeavouring to include as many of you as we can throughout our overall program. For this particular night, we are looking for expressions of interest from chefs for a few limited spaces. Keep in mind that these are small, seasonal plates within a budget for a crowd of 350 people. Deadline for applications is Friday, August 22 at 5 p.m.

In these early years we do not have enough room to showcase all the great Nova Scotia Culinary talent, but as we grow, it is our intention to feature as many of you as want to be involved.
