ABOUT CINEMA PARADISO
Giuseppe Tornatore, Italy, 1988, 124 minutes
A nostalgic chronicle of a Sicilian youngster, Salvatore, and his formative relationship with his local movie theater and its wise old projectionist, Alfredo. Salvatore, now a successful film director in his forties, returns home to Sicily after hearing of Alfredo’s passing. The story is beautifully woven through a series of flashbacks of Salvatore’s World War II childhood into his adolescence, where his true obsession with cinema flourished.
