Wolfville, NS (October 17, 2013)- Food Network star Bob Blumer will open and host The Five Senses opening gala reception presented by Taste of Nova Scotia on Wednesday, November 13th at Acadia University’s Fountain Commons.
Bob Blumer is familiar to many Food Network devotees as the Surreal Gourmet and host/participant of Glutton For Punishment. His current show, World’s Weirdest Restaurants finds Bob criss-crossing the globe in search of macabre, weird and wacky eating establishments. He also holds more Guinness Book of World Records titles than any other living human!
Eleven of Nova Scotia’s finest chefs will prepare a feast for the senses with a browsing reception of decadent appetizers inspired by films. Bob Blumer will be in attendance along with festival organizers and partners from Taste of Nova Scotia and the Nova Scotia Tourism Agency to officially launch Devour!. The reception takes place from 6-8PM. Participating chefs include: Lewis Acker (The Port Pub and Bistro), Craig Flinn (Chives Canadian Bistro & 2 Doors Down), Mark Gray (The Brooklyn Warehouse), Dennis Johnston (of Fid Resto fame), Matt Krizan (Mateus Bistro), Jason Lynch (Le Caveau), Jeffrey MacNeil (Luckett Vineyards), Mike McKinnon (Acadia University), Martin Ruiz Salvador (Fleur de Sel), Frédéric Tandy (Ratinaud French Cuisine) and Chris Velden (Flying Apron Cookery). The event also welcomes Phil Bélanger, 2013 Canadian Cheese Grand Prix jury chairman, representing the Dairy Farmers of Canada.
Following the reception, Bob Blumer will introduce the opening gala screening of The Fruit Hunters by Canadian director Yung Chang starring Bill Pullman. Writer Adam Gollner and producer Bob Moore will be in attendance and will participate in a Q&A hosted by Blumer as well after the screening. The Fruit Hunters is distributed in Canada by Kinosmith Inc.
Tickets to The Five Senses Opening Gala Reception are $50.00 and to the Opening Gala screening of The Fruit Hunters are $25.00. The two are offered as an opening night bundle for $70.00.
