Wolfville, N.S. (January 21, 2015) – Filmmakers from around the world are invited to submit entries to the world’s largest food film festival, Devour! The Food Film Fest. The fifth edition of the festival, which takes place in Wolfville – the culinary epicenter of Nova Scotia – will run from November 4-8, 2015. Film submissions can be made via Withoutabox until June 26, 2015.
“Our mission is to entertain and educate through the lens of food,” says Michael Howell, executive director of Devour! “Wolfville, Nova Scotia is Canada’s Secret Foodie Destination and Devour! is the perfect platform to showcase the best of what we have to offer.”
Devour! The Food Film Fest has quickly evolved into one of the most creative film, food and wine events by highlighting Nova Scotia’s growing and vibrant culinary and arts scene. In 2014, Devour!made festival history by hosting a sold-out opening night with Emmy-award winning CNN television host, Anthony Bourdain. Festival organizers also began to build a special relationship with the Berlin International Film Festival by inviting Thomas Struck to attend and chair the Devour! film jury. Each of these factors played a role in the 53% increase in attendance over 2013, with 6,000 attendees packing out the five-day program.
“We were thrilled at the level of films, filmmakers and industry guests we were able to attract to the event this past year,” says Lia Rinaldo, managing director of Devour! “We’re expecting to top it this coming year as there’s lots of great content being made internationally in our unique niche.”
The 2015 festival line up will showcase up to 50 new international films, gala receptions, decadent collaborative dinners, interactive workshops, farmers market events, food truck rallies, chef demonstrations, industry celebrity appearances, tasting tours and more. Each event will celebrate the very best of local and international culinary and cinema.
