If you’ve always wanted to experience Devour! The Food Film Fest but weren’t sure how to participate, choose films, or identify unmissable events, we’ve created a guide filled with tips and links to help you make the most of your Devour! experience.
Devour! The Food Film Fest is celebrating its 15th anniversary with a feast for the senses, bringing Montréal’s top chefs, award-winning films, and Atlantic Canada’s finest food producers to Wolfville, Nova Scotia, on October 20-26. This year’s festival features 57 events, including 47 films, 24 screenings, the new Montréal Night Market, a Poutine Smackdown, and the Golden Tines Awards Brunch with Chef Jean-Sébastien Giguère’s celebrated Cabane du Coureur Sugar Shack.
Celebrity chefs include Danny Smiles of Le Violon (Canada’s #1 Best New Restaurant), Michelin-recognized Antonin Mousseau-Rivard of Le Mousso, Top Chef semi-finalist Massimo Piedemonte of Cabaret l’Enfer, Emma Cardarell, Janice Tiefenbach and sommelier Ryan Gray, the team behind  Nora Gray, Elena and Gia, as well as Ariel Schor of Beba, ranked # 7 on Canada's Top 100 list.
Q:1 Who can attend Devour!?Â
This food film fest is for anyone who loves food and movies. You don’t have to be in the food or film industry to enjoy it. Devour! takes place in Wolfville, Nova Scotia - an hour outside of Halifax.
Q2: Where does Devour! take place?
Most events take place at Devour! Studios (360 Main Street, Wolfville), the Al Whittle Theatre, Denton Hall, Wolfville Waterfront Park, Grand Pré Winery, Lightfoot & Wolfville Vineyards, and the Wolfville Farmer’s Market.
Q3: How do you plan your Festival experience?
There are three ways to experience the Festival:Â
- Build Your Own Experience: Visit the Festival Schedule and select the movies, workshops, and community events you'd like to participate in. Get your tickets.Â
- Devour! Day Passes: Devour! Plans the experience for you based on the date. Pick a day - Wednesday through to Sunday; purchase a pass and you will get to experience a film, workshop and community event. Bonus - you get a free film ticket to use at any point in the Festival. Prices range from $50 to $ 115.
- VIP-All Access Pass:Â This is your all-access pass to all events, like all films, workshops, tasting and foraging tours, Opening Gala Evening, the Chefs & Shorts Gala, plus perks like a VIP welcome reception, private workshops, chef meet & greets, front-of-line access, gift bags, and transportation to select events. The best part? Our Devour! Concierge will handle ticketing and scheduling to ensure you have the best experience.
Q4: What events are there at the Festival?
There are four main types of events at the Fest:
1. Films ($15-$25):
This year we have 47 films that take audiences on a culinary journey around the globe. We are the only festival where you can taste the screen. We usually have little bites of pizza, blueberry grunt etc after certain films to help bring the experience to life.Â
2. Culinary Workshops & Panels ($15 - $45):
Want to learn how to filet a fish from a Michelin-starred restaurant or create an amazing cookie from one of the world’s top pastry chefs? These culinary workshops are for you. Get up close and watch as a celebrity chef prepares a specific dish, take notes, enjoy a sample bite, and chat with the chef afterwards! We also host panels with chefs and filmmakers. This year we have two:
- Friday, Oct. 24 @ 10 am Salt Lick Podcast Panel with Lesley Chesterman, Chefs Stephanie LaBelle, Antonin Mousseau-Rivard. They will discuss how chefs and restaurateurs must continually reinvent themselves to stay relevant.
- Saturday, Oct. 25 @10 am Cookbook Panel hosted by Jonathan Cheung with Lesley Chesterman, Janice Tiefenbach, Aimee Wimbush-Bourque, Jean-Sebastien Gigueres, and Christine Flynn.
3. Community Events ($20-$35)
These events are designed to immerse you in the Festival, experience a new dish, enjoy the beautiful Wolfville landscape, and more.
- Thursday, Oct. 23 @ 6 pm Montreal Night Market ($35) Enjoy gourmet bites from celebrity chefs and restaurants featured on Canada’s Top 100 list, all in one lively, market-style setting. Think of it as bragging rights without the $300 tasting menu.
- Saturday, Oct. 25 @12:30 pm Poutine Smackdown ($35) MTL Celebrity Chefs vs. Atlantic will whip up 8-10 different poutines for you to try and cast your vote for who will be crowned the Poutine King.Â
- Saturday, Oct. 25@ 8:30 am Pre Bike Ride Yoga Session - FreeÂ
- Saturday, Oct. 25 @ 9:30 am Le Tour de l’Acadie Bike Ride ($25)
- Saturday, Oct. 25 @ 9:00 pm Concert & Party w/Music by Dwayne Dopsie & the Zydeco Hellraisers ($25)
- Sunday, Oct. 26 @ 3 pm The 10th Annual Great Devour! Community Cajun Chicken Supper w/Music by Dwayne Dopsie & the Zydeco Hellraisers ($20)
4. Galas & Dinners & Lunches ($75- $199)
These cocktail and sit-down dinners bring the best of food and film together in an unforgettable culinary experience.Â
- Taste of Nova Scotia Opening Gala
Kick off the week with an indulgent celebration of Atlantic Canada’s best local food, drink, and storytelling. Raise a glass to 15 years of Devour! - Luncheon at Le Caveau featuring Elias Louie Deligianis & Renée Dechenes-O'Hagan
- Luncheon at Le Caveau with Massimo Piedimonte
- Luncheon with Lightfoot and Wolfville with Emma Cardarelli & Chris Pyne
- Chefs & Shorts Gala - “Taste the Screen”
Chefs & Shorts Gala will return, where Chef Danny Smiles - Le Violon; Antonin Mousseau-Rivard -Le Mousso; Janice Tiefenbach - Â Elena & Gia Vin & Grill; Ariel Schor, Beba; Stephanie Labelle, Patisserie Rhubarbe & Sommelier Ryan Gray, Nora Gray, will help us taste the screen with their five-course dinner based on the following five short films: Amoris Pomum, Loc Lac, Trufas, Dish Pit, I See. - Lobster Fais Do-Do: Celebrate Acadian and Cajun culture with a lobster boil party.
Q5: The event is sold out, what do I do?
If an event is sold out, don’t despair, we sometimes release additional tickets. Add your name to the waitlist by emailing tickets@devourfest.com and specifying the event you wish to attend.Â

Devour! Satellite Box Offices: The box office opens half an hour before film and event programming in the lobby of the Al Whittle Theatre at 450 Main Street and at selected event locations.
