Halifax, N.S. (May 24 2016) – After a successful spring season of international pop-ups including Berlin, Los Angeles, West Palm Beach, Okanagan, Toronto and Fox Harb’r Resort, Devour! The Food Film Fest organizers are thrilled to return home for their first Halifax-based event of the season on June 17. Join the world’s largest food film festival as they pair up with the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic to create Devour! The Sea – a fundraiser for Devour!’s designated charity of choice, Dartmouth North Community Food Centre.
“We love the idea of partnering with one of the city’s most celebrated locations to create the ultimate east coast collaboration through food, film and their unique location,” says Michael Howell, executive director of Devour! “Halifax continues to be our largest and most dynamic market for our Wolfville-based festival in November, and we look forward to continuing this growing relationship whenever possible through these pop-up events.”
Situated within unique locations of the Maritime Museum, six of Nova Scotia’s most renowned chefs will each create signature dishes based on six short films. Guests will be guided through progressive film and food experiences and will culminate in a desserts finale together in the Small Craft Gallery. Featured chefs for Devour! The Sea include: Andru Branch (Dartmouth North Community Food Centre), Craig Flinn (Chives/2 Doors Down), Mark Gray (Battery Park/Brooklyn Warehouse), Renée Lavallée (The Canteen), Jason Lynch (Le Caveau) and Chris Velden (The Flying Apron Cookery).
“This is the finale for our seasons’ Flagship Events where we host a range of cultural, musical and artistic gatherings,” says Kim Reinhardt, manager of the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic. “Celebrating with Devour! is a perfect fit, as we combine our appreciation of the sea with our regional food, film and history all in support of a great local cause.”
Exclusive to Devour! The Sea, WestJet will be on-site to draw a winner for two return tickets to anywhere they fly. Each ticket buyer will automatically be entered to win.
“We are honoured to be Devour!‘s charity of choice and look forward to sharing some great food and inspiring stories,” says Deborah Dickey, manager of Dartmouth North Community Food Centre.
Tickets to the entire evening are $100.00 (+ HST) and are available online through Ticketpro. Stay tuned for information on even more upcoming events as they are confirmed. Each event is in preparation for the sixth edition of Devour! The Food Film Fest, taking place November 2-6, 2016. For more information, visit devourfest.com.
